Prophecy Update #418 – No Mo’ Money

Each week we present what we call a Prophecy Update.  This is #418 in that series.

If you are a regular, you know that 80% of the almost 2500 prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled to the letter.  The remaining 20% must therefore be fulfilled.

We ought to be able to identify trends in the world, and hard news items, that would be expected in the light of the yet-to-be-fulfilled prophecies.

For example, the Bible seems to indicate that, by the time of the seven-year Tribulation, the world will conduct business without the need for cash.

Considered impossible just a few years ago, today there is a war on cash.

Typical of what is occurring in many European nations, I read an article titled, Swedes Stashing Money in Microwaves as War on Cash Heats Up.

Excerpts:

Swedes are reportedly hiding money in microwave ovens in a desperate attempt shield it from the negative effects of their central bank’s “war on cash.”

As Business Insider puts it, the Nordic country is “shaping up to be the first country to plunge its citizens into a fascinating — and terrifying – economic experiment: negative interest rates in a cashless society.”

Sweden is the closest country on the planet to becoming an all-electronic cashless society.

France announced severe new restrictions on cash transactions. As of the end of September, French residents can no longer make cash payments of more than 1,000 euros.  The limit was formerly 3,000.  Foreign visitors’ cash payments are now capped at 10,000 euros rather than 15,000.

A proposed Danish law made public last spring would allow shops to refuse cash and require some form of electronic payment. Policymakers claim the law would “ease administrative and financial burdens.”

Then there was this.  Tim Cook, the chief executive of technology giant Apple, forecast the death of cash by the time current university students have a family.

Answering questions from students at Trinity College Dublin, Mr Cook said: “Your kids will not know what money is.”

Cash is still used for more than half of payments by consumers in Europe, according to Payments UK, but its popularity is falling as people switch to cards and smartphone apps such as Apple Pay and Google Wallet.

Centuries ago, the Bible predicted a cashless, global economy.

Today, the most successful businesses and banks in the world are pushing for a cashless, global economy.

While we see the signs, we are not waiting for anything to happen before the Lord comes to resurrect the dead in Christ, and to rapture living believers.  That event is imminent, pretribulational, and premillennial.

Are you ready for the rapture?  If not, get ready, stay ready, and keep looking up.  Ready or not, Jesus is coming!
