Prophecy Update #695 – Crispr Critters

Tim La Haye once said, “Prophecy is not so difficult that we can’t understand it, or else God would not have put it into Scripture. There has never been a more urgent time when God’s people have needed to know His wonderful plan for the future, and it can be found in the one book that tells us the truth about eternity – the Bible.”

We reserve a few minutes to discuss current trends that you’d expect from reading Bible prophecy.

We are futurists. We interpret all unfulfilled prophetic passages as future events that will occur in a literal, physical, apocalyptic, and global context.

Biometrics, Artificial Intelligence, cashless commerce, the manipulation of human DNA, global government, the exponential growth of human knowledge, and the rebirth of national Israel are End Times phenomena the Bible predicts. All of these are increasingly trending in the news.

In His prophetic sermon we call the Olivet Discourse, Jesus said the End Times would be like the days of Noah.

Jesus specifically referenced the strange marriages in the days of Noah.

In Genesis chapter six we’re told that certain fallen angels were marrying human women.

Their offspring were called Nephilim. They were a race of giants.

The angels mating with human females were able to affect and alter human DNA to produce this weird race. It was an attempt to destroy humanity at a genetic level.

We are told that Noah was “a just man, and perfect in his generations.” The word “perfect” does not mean sinless, but complete or whole. It is used to describe health and physical condition.  From this we infer that Noah was chosen to carry on and to restart humanity after the flood, because his genetic blood line and ancestry were 100% human.

We should expect a trend towards the manipulation of DNA that will alter
what it means to be human.

We have previously discussed the gene-editing tool known as Crispr that allows researchers to make precise changes to almost any element of DNA, permanently altering cellular biochemistry. It could help treat tens of thousands of diseases linked to variations in a single gene and lead to the creation of better antibiotics. The latest advancement is called prime editing and is more accurate than older Crispr methods.

Sounds great. It isn’t. Listen to these quotes from secular sources:

“A [big] concern is the prospect of editing germ-line cells, so that altered DNA gets passed on to future generations, forever changing our collective human genome.”

“Bioethicists warn the biggest risks from Crispr and other gene-editing techniques won’t be unfortunate physical side effects, but cultural risks of another kind entirely, as the technology could irreversibly alter our experience of being human… The risks are staggering, and probably beyond our capacity even to imagine.”

“As science advances, biologists may well learn how to use gene editing to improve traits like intelligence, beauty and physical endurance, even though these depend on many genes, not just one. This could forever change the relationship between parents and their children, who might become more like manufactured products, their character shaped entirely by parental choice, subject to pressures of fashion and marketing. The best such technology won’t be cheap, and it would likely increase the gap between haves and have-nots.”

“This is the threat posed by technology that is capable of rapidly changing the human genome.”

We aren’t predicting anything. We are pointing out that what Jesus predicted about the Days of Noah is exactly what we see trending in the world.
We believe the resurrection and rapture of the church are imminent. It could happen any moment; nothing needs to happen before it. It will happen before the Great Tribulation.

Jesus will return in the clouds.
He will raise the dead in Christ.
He will transform the bodies of living believers to glorified, resurrection bodies.

We will all join Him in Heaven while the earth endures one final seven-year campaign of severe evangelism.

Are you ready for the rapture? If not, Get ready; Stay ready; Keep looking up.

Ready or not, Jesus is coming!
