The Bible accurately foretells specific events – in precise detail – sometimes even centuries before they occur.

Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible. About 2000, or 80%, have already been fulfilled to the letter, with no errors.

Because we know that the remaining 500 or so prophecies will definitely be fulfilled, we look for news, and trends, that you’d expect to be taking place.

You might call them the signs of the times.

In the first century, while exiled on the Island of Patmos, the apostle John saw a future in which everyone would have a personal identifier either in them or on them.  Without it, a person will not be able to transact any business; they will not be able to buy or sell anything.

We live in the time when technology can make what John saw a reality.  More-and-more we are encountering situations in which a personal identifier is required.

Do you know what a NEXUS Pass is?  According to the US Immigration Visa & Travel website,

NEXUS Pass is a border crossing card for expedited US Canada Border Crossing.  NEXUS cards provide expedited travel at the US Canada Border for predetermined low-risk Canadian and US citizens.  NEXUS pass holders can use the card as an air card when flying into the US or Canada as well as using it at land and sea points of entry.  Using the NEXUS lane significantly speeds up the time spent waiting and being processed at the US Canada border.

A little deeper into the website, you read the following:

If you intend using your NEXUS pass for air travel, you must have the NEXUS Iris scan.  At the NEXUS interview you stand in front of a special infra red digital camera that focuses on your eye.  The camera takes high-resolution images of the detail-rich, intricate structures of the iris.

A reputable blogger posted an article titled, Welcome Aboard… But First US Marshals Will Scan Your Retina.

Excerpts:

… my latest flight to Mexico, originating in Atlanta, presented all passengers with something I had never seen before.

We had already been through boarding pass checks, passport checks, scanners, and pat downs.  At the gate, each passenger had already had their tickets scanned and we were all walking on the jet bridge to board… Halfway down the jetbridge, there was a new layer of security.  Two US Marshals, heavily armed and dressed in dystopian-style black regalia, stood next to an upright machine with a glowing green eye.  Every passenger, one by one, was told to step on a mat and look into the green scanner.  

It was scanning our eyes and matching that scan with the passport, which was also scanned.

There are some new TSA rules which will go into effect for nine states beginning January 22, 2018. Travelers from those states will no longer be able to travel with only their driver’s licenses.

Residents of Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington will have to use alternate ID forms (passport, military ID, or permanent resident card) to pass TSA security checkpoints – even for domestic travel.

The IDs from these nine states do not meet the federal government’s minimum security standards.  And, according to the REAL ID Act of 2005, federal agencies (like the TSA) are prohibited from “accepting for certain purposes driver’s licenses and identification cards from states not meeting the Act’s minimum standards.”

All this is exactly what you’d expect from your literal reading of the Bible.

While we look at the signs of the times, we’re not looking for any particular sign before the Lord can return.  Jesus promised He’d come in the clouds to resurrect the dead in Christ, and rapture living believers.

There are no prophecies needing to be fulfilled prior to the rapture.  It is presented in the Bible as an imminent event.
