Prophecy Update #506 – Jerusalem II

Each week we like to focus for a few minutes on Bible prophecy. For one thing, as Christians we are encouraged to understand the time in which we live, and act accordingly.

For another thing, the subject of prophecy takes-up about 30% of the Bible. It’s almost impossible to talk about it too much.

Scholars estimate there are somewhere around 500 unfulfilled last-days prophecies. Since we know they will be fulfilled, we should be able to look around us, in the news, and see trends in the direction the prophecies predict.

We can also point to last days prophecies that have already been fulfilled.

Many of these prophecies relate to the Jewish people and their nation. Some have already been fulfilled, while we see the trend towards the others being fulfilled.

For example:

It was predicted that the Jewish people will be regathered in from the four corners of the earth:

Isa 11:11  It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
Isa 11:12  He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.

It was predicted that the state of Israel would be re-established:

Eze 37:21  “Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;
Eze 37:22  and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.

This began May 14, 1948, and will be finally fulfilled when Jesus returns in His Second Coming.

There is an ominous prophecy regarding the city of Jerusalem:

Zec 12:1  The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel. Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:
Zec 12:2  “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.
Zec 12:3  And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

This prophecy is why what happened this week, on Wednesday, is so significant. President Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, to the disdain of the world’s political and religious leaders.

Among those denouncing the decision was Pope Francis, who said, “I wish to make a heartfelt appeal to ensure that everyone is committed to respecting the status quo of the city, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.”

All eyes are on Israel, and Jerusalem in particular. It is what you’d expect to be happening in the last days as you read your Bible.

We are not looking for any particular sign, or prophecy to be fulfilled. Jesus promised He’d return to rapture His church – which entails the resurrection of the dead in Christ of the Church Age, then the translation from earth to Heaven of all living believers.
It is presented in the Bible as an imminent event.

Are you ready for the rapture? If not, get ready, stay ready, and keep looking up. Ready or not, Jesus is coming!
