Prophecy Update #529 – Gene Drive

Each week, we dedicate a short 5-minutes to Bible prophecy.

The Bible is about 30% prophecy. About 500 of those prophecies are yet-to-be fulfilled in the Last Days.

Consider the encouragement of the apostle Paul who said, “knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed” (Romans 13:11).

Knowing the unfulfilled prophecies, we can look at the news, and the trends in the world, and see things lining-up for their fulfillment.

For example: In His teaching about the future, Jesus said that the end times would be “as in the days of Noah.”

He said,

Mat 24:38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,

The passage in the Book of Genesis that Jesus was referencing is the opening verses of chapter six. There was a very peculiar type of “marrying” going on. Fallen angels were marrying and mating with human females.

Their offspring were called Nephilim. They are described throughout the Old Testament as giants – twelve to sixteen feet tall.

These weren’t just taller men; they were genetically altered hybrids. Extra-biblical literature from the Old Testament era describes them as brutal cannibals.

Somehow the fallen angels, in mating with humans, were altering the DNA of the human race. Preserving human DNA was a major reason God brought the flood – saving 8 souls to repopulate the planet.

You’d therefore expect the End Times to feature genetic tampering.

Scientists are utilizing something called gene drive. One article described it, saying, “Gene drives can force a trait through a population, defying the usual rules of inheritance. The technology represents the first time in history that humans have the ability to engineer the genes of a wild population.”

They label it a way to “defy evolution” – meaning they can shape species, including humans, to whatever specifications they deem best.

A recent article posted on wire.com was titled, This Gene-Editing Tech Might Be Too Dangerous To Unleash.

Excerpts:

To get to work in the morning, Omar Akbari has to pass through a minimum of six sealed doors, including an air-locked vestibule.
The UC Riverside entomologist studies the world’s deadliest creature: the Aedes aegypti mosquito, whose bite transmits diseases that kill millions each year.

But that’s not the reason for all the extra security. Akbari isn’t just studying mosquitoes – he’s re-engineering them with self-destruct switches. And that’s not something you want accidentally escaping into the world.

The technology Akbari is designing is something called a gene drive. Think of it as a way to supercharge evolution, forcing a genetic modification to spread through an entire population in just a few generations.

Scientists see it as a powerful tool that could finally vanquish diseases like malaria, dengue, and Zika. But US defense agencies see something else: a national security issue.

Last year, former director of national intelligence James Clapper added gene editing to a list of threats posed by “weapons of mass destruction and proliferation.” In July, the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded $65 million in four-year contracts to seven teams of scientists, including Akbari, to study gene-editing technologies. The commitment officially made Darpa the world’s largest government funder of gene drive research. Most of that money is going toward designing safer systems and developing tools to counter rogue gene drives that might get into the environment either by accident, or with malicious intent.

If you read a lot of articles about the current trends in genetics, it’s not uncommon to encounter words like “Frankenstein” or “chimera.” It’s just scary what we can now do to DNA.

Before the Flood, fallen angels were manipulating DNA – corrupting it to produce Nephilim. Jesus said it would also characterize the End Times – and we see it happening just as predicted.

We are not looking for any particular sign, or prophecy to be fulfilled. Jesus promised He’d return to rapture His church – which entails the resurrection of the dead in Christ of the Church Age, then the translation from earth to Heaven of all living believers.
It is presented in the Bible as an imminent event.

Are you ready for the rapture? If not, get ready, stay ready, and keep looking up. Ready or not, Jesus is coming!
