Prophecy Update #560 – I Love Me

We focus on Bible prophecy each week for about five-minutes.

Approximately 25% of the Bible is prophetic, with somewhere around 500 prophecies regarding the Last Days that are yet to be fulfilled.

We ought to be able to identify trends in the world that are to be expected in light of those prophecies.

One disturbing characteristic of the last days is self-love. The apostle Paul put it plainly in his second letter to Pastor Timothy, saying, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves…” (v1-2).

In a publication called The Nation, one journalist wrote about what she called “Ireland’s wildly successful movement to repeal the Eighth Amendment.”

“Amended the Constitution of Ireland by inserting a subsection recognizing the equal right to life of the pregnant woman and the unborn. Abortion had been subject to criminal penalty since 1861; the amendment ensured that legislation or judicial interpretation would be restricted to allowing abortion in circumstances where the life of a pregnant woman was at risk.”

It was repealed by a margin of 66% to 34%. On September 18, 2018, (and I quote), “The Eighth Amendment which effectively banned abortion in the Republic of Ireland has been formally repealed.”

One commentator wrote:

At bottom, abortion is about a woman’s individual freedom, her autonomy – her right, you might say, to love herself. Autonomy may be the prime quality we value and reward in men – our archetypal heroes, whether cowboys or entrepreneurs, don’t let anyone get in their way – but in women, it looks to many people like selfishness. Women are supposed to sacrifice for others, especially for children, even children who do not, properly speaking, exist. For pro-choicers, abortion can thus be about love in the sense that we respect women and trust them to know themselves…

In the Last Days “Men will be lovers of themselves.” I’d say we are there.

As believers, we expect that Jesus could return at any moment.

Jesus promised He’d return to rapture His church – which entails the resurrection of the dead in Christ of the Church Age, then the translation from earth to Heaven of all living believers.

Just as Enoch was removed from the earth in a rapture prior to the global flood, so will we be.

It is presented in the Bible as an imminent (any-moment) event.

Are you ready for the rapture? If not, get ready, stay ready, and keep looking up. Ready or not, Jesus is coming!
