We focus on Bible prophecy each week for about five-minutes, calling it a “Prophecy Update.”

We identify trends in the world that you’d expect from reading future prophecies. I try to be careful to point out that we are not claiming these trends to be the fulfillment of prophecy. They are things that seem to resonate with the Bible’s yet to be fulfilled last days prophecies.

While exiled on the Island of Patmos, an aged apostle John received the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Perhaps its most well-known prediction is that of people needing what is called a ‘mark’ on their hand or forehead. Without it, people cannot buy or sell anything, or conduct any business.

Over the centuries, scoffers seemed to have the upper hand, so to speak. It seemed to be a ludicrous economic model, totally unattainable.

Today, however, it sounds exactly like biometrics. It is easy to see how just such a system could be implemented on a national, then global scale.

I read a few articles this week about a breakthrough called AISkin (Artificially Intelligent Skin). One version is called SkinOn. Here are a few excerpts from one of the articles:

In [a] study, researchers created a phone case, computer touch pad and smart watch to demonstrate how touch gestures on the Skin-On interface can convey expressive messages for computer mediated communication with humans or virtual characters.

“Artificial skin has been widely studied in the field of Robotics but with a focus on safety, sensing or cosmetic aims. This is the first research we are aware of that looks at exploiting realistic artificial skin as a new input method for augmenting devices,” said Marc Teyssier, lead author [of the study].

“This work explores the intersection between man and machine. We have seen many works trying to augment human with parts of machines, here we look at the other way around and try to make the devices we use every day more like us, i.e. human-like,” said Dr Anne Roudaut, Associate Professor in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Bristol, who supervised the research.

It may not be long before these tactile devices become the norm. The paper offers all the steps needed to replicate this research, and the authors are inviting developers with an interest in Skin-On interfaces to get in touch.

Researchers say the next step will be making the skin even more realistic. They have already started looking at embedding hair and temperature features.

If I am understanding this, a person could put on a realistic looking skin interface that would communicate with external sensors. Maybe on their hand… Or forehead?

I am not saying AISkin is the mark of the beast. I am saying that trends like this are exactly what you’d expect from reading the Bible.

Jesus promised He’d return to rapture His church – which entails the resurrection of the dead in Christ of the Church Age, then the translation from earth to Heaven of all living believers.

It is presented in the Bible as an imminent (any-moment) event.
